The eye-candy in THE SMITHS is absolutely astonishing, and the images look great on DVD. Of course, the Blu-ray version has better detail and more solid colors, but the anamorphic widescreen picture compares favorably. There are many memorable moments of the girls in non-hardcore action which are worthy of an Andrew Blake production: the opening close-up of Kortney Kane's ass wrapped up in an skimpy black dress, followed up later by the far shots of her endlessly long legs strutting in heels as she enters a bathroom stall, were images which struck me like a bolt of lightning generating 1.21 gigawatts of electricity. Equally easy on the eyes were the covergirl close-ups of Kayden's gorgeous face when she first appears in the picture, as well as the medium shots of Riley Steele dressed up in red lingerie.

For a sequence which will really grab your attention, skip over to the fifty-four minute mark, for a montage of strobing images backed up by a pulsating score as Kayden prepares for her affair with Tommy Gunn. It's a strikingly creative visual moment, and climactically reveals a hidden secret kept by Miss Kross. I've always been impressed with the film-like texture of Mr. D's pictures, and THE SMITHS maintains the same standards in video and audio quality. To describe it is one thing, but to experience it on a widescreen monitor is another.

My only complaint about this production? I wish it were longer. It's ninety-minute running time is perfect for the tightly edited vignettes and expository sequences, but I wanted to see more of Kayden, Riley and Kortney, with or without clothes. The girls look that good.

I don't want to overhype THE SMITHS, because clearly, those wanting nothing less than gynecological close-ups of double anal penetration, bukkake climaxes, and CGI extravaganzas will be left wondering what all the raving is about. But for others who appreciate creativity as well as quality, THE SMITHS is a winner inside and out. —Diesel, Adult DVD Empire

PORNSTAR SUPERHEROES is an entertaining and scorchingly hot adult movie which finds its inspiration from today's modern comic books (elements of The Watchmen, Captain America, The Uncanny X-Men and The Dark Knight Strikes Again are present) but also borrows from recent films (Asa Akira's sexy costume and weaponry is based on Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill, Volume 1, which of course, pays tribute to popular Hong Kong cinema) and television (the recently cancelled Heroes appears to be another minor influence). Naturally, anything with Tori Black (as The Silhouette) in it is worth watching, especially when she's fitted into a black bodysuit which might make fans forget similar outfits previously donned by Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.

There are five full-length sex scene spanning the two-hour, thirty minute running time. The movie plays like an anthology, with each member of the "The Meta Humans" engaging in their own villainous conflicts followed by a victorious, carnal epilogue.

PORNSTAR SUPERHEROES succeeds far better as a gonzo-based feature than an artistic cinematic event. It doesn't have the same polish and professionalism that similar big-budgeted movies like PIRATES, THE 8TH DAY and 2040 have, but it definitely delivers when it comes to arousal and satisfaction. Cavalli broke up with him six months ago ("Six months and five days," he tells buddy Nick Manning) and when Manning takes him to a local watering hole to meet a couple of "shaved and depraved" sisters Manning scores in the alley with one sister behind the bar and Masterson goes home with the other — but can't deliver the goods.

Masterson's older brother gives him the idea that he should give up sex for Lent. Manning, ever the supportive pal, starts an office poll on when Masterson will finally give in, and dog park temptress Alektra Blue may be the one to do it. Although Masterson still has to deal with Cavalli doing Tommy Gunn in the men's room at the bar.

Enter The Peepshow

This arty pastiche mixes sideshow imagery like hoochie-koochie dancers and escape artists with hardcore porn, sometimes directly when the hoochie-koochie dancer gyrates in front of porn projected on a screen, and sometimes implied when the person struggling to get out of a straitjacket is Sasha Grey. You can imagine what happens when they demonstrate sword swallowing.

Scenes are introduced with titles and are eye-catching, edited with fisheye lenses, Dutch angles, wipes and tight close ups presented with kaleidoscope effects, grain, black and white, raster lines and electronically edited techno circus music. Occasionally a straightforward shot of plain sex gets in as if by accident before the effects kick in again. Just to add another layer, performers sometimes address the viewer.

The effect could be considered more entertaining than erotic and the DVD can be well used as a party background or an amusement.
