My partner and I have been together for over 20 years, and our practice in this regard has varied. The first time this issue arose, we'd been together for a few months. I started one night and didn't bother telling him. I thought, well, it's just a very light flow and who cares. During sex he noticed and was startled for a moment, thought he'd hurt me or something.
